So, Elaine is back from her trip to Indiana... She went to visit her sisters and their kids, mainly to check in on the newest kid (Saul). He is doing great!
So, it was me and the kids for 4 days.......... Thursday and Friday I had help, Sunday we had Church in the morning and cousins in the afternoon. Saturday was my day, here are some excerpts from that glorious time with the kids.
6AM - Owen: "Wake up, its time to make the donuts!"
6:30AM - Owen and Matt are making donuts
8AM - Eva freaks out over a doughy inside to part of her donut. Eva "there's cheese in my donut! Is this cheese? I don't like cheesy donuts!!!!"
play time
11AM - Matt grilling cheeseburgers for everyone
11:01AM - Eva, "Dad, are all we going to do today is eat and be bored?" Matt, "No, we are going hiking"
lunch and quiet time
3PM -
Cougar Mountain hiking
3:15PM - on a path we have hiked many a time we encounter a large amount of poop on the path, a lot, of poop. Below is the dialogue stemming from this discovery.
Matt: This poop looks like cougar poop!
Random kid: wow, cougar poop. cougars poop a lot!
Matt: kids stay close to me, its very important for us to stay together...
Kids huddle up, then as we reroute begin to disperse again.
Matt: kids stay close together and close to me, its very important.
All kids: Why?
Matt: its very important for us to be close together because sometimes animals think that a group is really one big thing rather than several small things....
And with no delay whatsoever, Owen joyfully proclaims: Yeah, we're like a big piece of meat!
Matt: Yes Owen by walking together we will appear to be one big piece of meat rather than several small pieces of meat...
End of Matts recollection of Saturday.
